Children & Youth

Children and youth are at the heart of our UU community! We emphasize and encourage curiosity in a safe learning atmosphere where warmth, love, acceptance, and joy can be found.

At the 10:30 AM Sunday Service

People of all ages, including children, gather together for the first half of the service, singing, sharing reflections, and hearing a Story for All Ages.

Halfway through the service, we "sing the children out," as children leave the larger service to enjoy age-appropriate activities and learning down the hall.

Children Birth through Ages 4-5

In our Spirit Play Room, we offer positive play and model UU values. Sometimes, teens and tweens help out, bringing extra energy and support!

Children Ages 5ish through 9ish

In our Chalice Children Room, we share a creative project, practice UU values, and learn life skills. It's our hope that teens and tweens will be able to start helping out with this age group, as well!

Teens and Tweens

Young people who are age 10 and older stay in the larger service, rather than leaving halfway through with the children.

Sometimes youth participate as volunteers and musicians in the services.

Youth are also welcome to attend the services in a spirit of reflection, without having to volunteer.

Heartbeats: Intercultural Youth Program

Our Heartbeats youth program is an intercultural youth group, building positive life skills in an atmosphere of fun! So far, we've learned African drum beats, played Dakota hand-games, prepared food from around the world, and had an overnight lock-in. Special thanks to Sacred Pipe Resource Center and Bismarck Global Neighbors for co-sponsoring!

For info, contact Rev. Karen Van Fossan at 701.223.6788 or—or check our web calendar for updates.

**Heartbeats: Our intercultural youth program resumes again January 23 at 6:30 PM!**
