On August 6, 1945, the US dropped the world's first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan, instantly killing over 80,000 people; three days later, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing over 40,000. In commemoration of these lost lives, Hiroshima & Nagasaki Days have become a time of remembrance, as well as a focus for anti-war and anti-nuclear actions.
